The GDS 120 is CE marked and certified to the latest European standards

Smoke Curtains are a form of Active Smoke Barrier (ASB), critical to the Smoke and Heat Exhaust Ventilation (SHEV) strategy of industrial and commercial buildings. In a fire they create channels or reservoirs from which smoke and hot gases can be extracted, buying time for evacuation and fire-fighting measures.

Founded in 1981 by Dr Richard Guthrie, Guthrie Douglas has been developing and manufacturing solar shading and industrial door systems for over 30 years. In 1994 Dr. Guthrie developed the SAC 100 Smoke Curtain System. The SAC100 meets the requirements of BS7346-3 and is sold in world regions that still adhere to this standard.

In July 2013, the harmonised European standard EN12101-1 came into effect across the EU, making it a legal requirement that all smoke barrier products installed in the EU be certified, audited and CE marked in line with the standard. The standard includes tougher reliability and production control testing, as well as stringent furnace tests.

The GDS120 Automatic Smoke Curtain is tested and certified to EN12101-1. It is made in the UK in a controlled production environment to strict quality standards using only European components. It is over-engineered to exceed specifier requirements, giving the end-user the total peace of mind that should come with any fire-safety product.

Through simplicity of design, both the GDS120 and the SAC100 ensure high reliability whilst keeping installation and future maintenance cost to a minimum.
